Black Sea Arena is the largest concert hall and multifunctional venue in Georgia, located on the Black Sea coast in the Guria region. Construction of the hall began in 2008 at the initiative of the Cartu Foundation and it officially opened in 2016 with a concert by Christina Aguilera. In recent years, the concert hall has hosted stars from the international music scene, including Aerosmith, The Scorpions, Elton John, Robert Plant, Ennio Morricone, Black Eyed Peas, Jessie J, Thirty Seconds to Mars, L'Impératrice, The Killers, OneRepublic, and Jungle.
Since its founding, Black Sea Arena has played a significant role in the development of the region's music industry. To mark Georgia on the global music map, in 2023 Black Sea Arena decided to write a new musical history for the country. This is how the idea for implementing Starring Georgia came about—a project within the framework of which the country hosted music events organized with international standards for the first time and featured such renowned great artists as Imagine Dragons, Bruno Mars, The Killers, Damian Lazarus, All Day I Dream, OneRepublic, Scorpions, and Jungle.
In partnership with the global entertainment industry giant Live Nation, the project achieved unprecedented results for the country, positioning Georgia as a new destination on the world music industry map.
At the same time, Black Sea Arena actively dedicates its stage to representatives of the local art scene and strives to play an important role in the development of the Georgian cultural environment. The music arena, spanning 30 000 square meters, can accommodate up to 10 000 guests, and its technical specifications allow for the successful hosting of various types of events. The amphitheater-type open-air concert hall is equipped with top-quality equipment, movable light walls, and a movable roof. The moving stage is 638 square meters (36m x 18m) and is perfectly visible from any point in the hall. There is also a small cinema on the premises.
All these details make Black Sea Arena building unique, which is why it gained significant recognition in the architectural field in 2020 and won the German Design Award in the category of Best Modern Architecture. This award is given only to projects that contribute to the international design landscape. The building was designed by the German architectural company Drei Architekten, which has been operating in the market for 50 years and has won a total of 30 international and local awards.
The Musicians' Park is a 2-minute walk from the Black Sea Arena. The park full of various unique plants and monuments was built in 2016 and has been in the center of tourists' attention ever since. The number of visitors to the park is growing from year to year.
