Viktor Dolidze

Victor Dolidze is a famous Georgian composer born in Ozurgeti in 1890. In 1910, while being in Tbilisi Commercial School, he formed an orchestra of mandolin-players and guitarists, while at the same time he was studying in the class of violin and composition at the Kiev Music School. His special work is opera "Keto and Kote" (the first performance was held on December 11, 1919 and was staged according to A. The above-mentioned opera was performed in Moscow in 1937 during the first decade of Georgian art and literature, and at different times it was performed on the stages of many opera houses in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The film "Keto and Kote" which is considered as a classic of Georgian cinema, was created according to Victor Dolidze's opera. The works of Victor Dolidze's are as well as: "Leila" (1922, according to Tsagareli's play "Lekis Qali Guljavari"( Guljavari - The Daughter Of Leki), "Tsisana" (1929, based on Ertatsmindeli's plot), symphonic fantasy "Iveriada" (1925), he also has worked on South - Osetian folk songs recorded during his tour in South Osetia (1926), opera "Zamira" (1931, about Osetian folk themes, unfinished), symphony "Azerbaijan" (1932), piano concert (1932).
