While we all agree that we go to concerts and festivals to firstly listen to music and create positive emotions and impressions, it's important to acknowledge the responsibility we each bear when participating in such gatherings. We all know that these gatherings often result in substantial waste generation, posing a significant environmental challenge. Fortunately, there exists a solution, and it lies in our collective actions.
We, Starring Georgia team, together with partner organisations this year as well as last year, aim to create the best experience in this direction.
In order to achieve real results, it’s necessary to actively involve yourself in this matter. As you already understand, in this blog we want to focus your attention on such an important topic as waste management and talk about the steps that will be taken during the concerts to protect the environment.
Let's talk about food waste first. If we gather them together after consumption and place them in bins, we will greatly benefit our common home, planet Earth. The rest will be taken care of by the respective services, the main challenge is to get it to the bins correctly. Keep in mind that even a seemingly insignificant amount of waste, such as a cigarette, a plastic bag, or chocolate wrapping paper, causes colossal damage to the planet's ecosystem. Especially when pollution occurs massively in one specific place, the result can be very disastrous.
A special mention should be made regarding plastic waste, including disposable cups and bottles, which, for safety reasons, we cannot exclude at concerts. However, we assure you that we pay special attention to this issue and offer dedicated solutions depending on the scale of the problem.
On average, 40,000 pieces of plastic waste are collected at each concert, posing significant harm to our planet.
To care for our planet, we partnered with Tene last year, and as part of this collaboration, we installed special bins to collect plastic waste in the concert areas during the 2023 season. Our friendship with Tene will continue this year as well, and with your involvement, we hope to significantly improve last year's achievements. Additionally during the Starring Georgia concerts you will find Tene stands, where you'll be able to charge your phone.
Additionally , this year, Starring Georgia concerts will feature reusable cups, created in collaboration with our main sponsor, TBC Bank. Not only are these cups safer for our planet than disposable ones (they are recyclable and reusable, as they are placed in special bins and then chemically washed for reuse), but they will also benefit you. If you bring this cup to the bars at our events, you will receive a special discount on your drink.
When disposing of water or other liquid bottles, please use the special bins provided in the area.
By taking this action, we can effectively protect the environment and preserve the planet's green crust from serious pollution. Remember that these small steps can significantly reduce our impact on the environment, thereby positively contributing to the preservation of the Earth's ecosystem.
We wish you an eco-friendly experience. See you in Shekvetili.
